File naming and descriptive guidelines Example file names
  • Discuss these guidelines at Talk:File naming guidelines.
  • We prefer high quality scans over resized-for-viewing versions.
  • Use Template:Media to describe your file in the Summary.
  • Include title, year released, and language (if known/matters).
  • Include the type of content (Poster, DVD, VHS, Still, etc.)
  • If uploading stills, include the time code in the file name.
  • If you know who distributed a DVD etc., include it in the file name.
  • If you have front/back covers, combine them into one image.
  • Use Template:Death by and Template:Sleaze by as needed.
  • C.H.U.D.-1984-Poster-1.jpg (no language; English).
  • Aenigma-1987-Italian-DVD-1.jpg (Italian DVD).
  • Blood Freak-1972-Poster-2.jpg (multiple posters).
  • Critters-1986-Still-0421.jpg (still with timecode).
  • Suspiria-1977-German-VHS-VMP-1.jpg (distributor).
